Privacy and Data Protection Policy

As a specialist section of The College of Occupational Therapists (COT), the COTSS-IP Privacy and Data Protection Policy is based upon that defined by the college.

What Information Do We Collect?

In order to provide you with services, we may collect personal information about you from our website, telephone conversations, emails and written and verbal communications. We may keep records of your name, address, email address, telephone number and details of any health needs or disabilities when booking an event in order to help to ensure your safety.

How We Will Use Your Information?

All personal information that we obtain about you will be recorded, used, and protected by us in accordance with current data protection legislation and this privacy policy. We will primarily use your personal information to provide our services to you and, for example:

  • to administer and process your information
  • for record keeping purposes
  • to carry out market research so that we can improve the services we offer
  • to provide information relevant to the profession, about events and conferences
  • to track activity on our website
  • to provide you with details about the development of our services, including information about BAOT/COT
  • to send you bulletins which we believe might be of interest to you

We will not pass information we hold about you to any company or organisation outside of COTSS-IP/BAOT/COT unless we have your consent to do so.

Updating and Correcting Information

You may correct your personal information by calling our enquiry line on 0800 389 4873. Please be ready with your name, address and/or email address when you contact us as this helps to ensure that we accept amendments only from the correct person. We encourage you to promptly update your personal information if it changes.

Your Right to Access Your Personal Information

You have the right to receive a copy of the personal information that we hold about you. We may charge a small fee towards the cost of administering any request you make. The current fee is £10 GB.
